Our lives.... dating, engagment, wedding and after

Devon and I met in Laramie Wyoming in our singles ward. I was attending the University of Wyoming and Devon was attending Wyo Tech. The first time I met Devon it was a family home evening activity that I was in charge of and that being the first activity we did the usual ice breaker and somehow it was brought up by one of my friends that the next Monday was my birthday. So after activity we all went to Devon's apartment to play the WII and they surprised me with a birthday cake! I have to say that was one of the best birthdays. Well after that Devon and I really started interacting with each other. Our first date (what I consider the first date) was to get hot chocolate, Devon says it was just a friend thing. So his first date technically was when he took me to Applebees then it was down hill from there... We were going to go ice skating but they were closing, so that didn't work, we then tried bowling and that failed so everything he planned that night was a flop, but it was so fun we laughed so much and really clicked. Well after all the failed attempts to do something we opted for a movie at my place. The next morning I was not feeling good so I didn't make it to church and come to find out my apartment had a carbon monoxide leak, after I found that out I called Devon and told him what was going on, Devon's house had an open apartment in the basement so my roommate ended up over there that night so we could have heat and hot water. Well my house didn't get fix for over a week so I stayed in the open apartment and spent ever day with Devon. We really got close after that, then Valentines day came and he took me to Olive garden, he was so sweet! That night I told him that I was going to be going home for the weekend to get my hair done with my mom and sister and asked him if he would like to come to Idaho with me, he said sure. Well my family fell in love with Devon right away and totally accepted him. My brother Travis had us pegged that we would be getting married that summer. :) It was that weekend that we decided to get married. I was so excited but he had decided that we were not going to say anything to anyone yet just because we really hadn't dated long and he had just met my family. Well my mom got it out of me the next morning and my parents were way excited! Then we made a trip out to Chicago so I could meet Devon's family, and they are so fun! I really had a wonderful time out there. Then when we got back from Chicago we went back to Idaho for my nieces baby blessing and it was that weekend Devon officially asked me to marry him, yes I cried. We decided that June 21 was going to be the date for everyone to make it to our wedding out in Nauvoo, IL.

All I have to say is weddings are extremely stressful! Well ours was, right before we were getting ready to leave for Nauvoo the Mississippi river started to flood, and making it so you couldn't get across any where, my father-in-law called me and said that he had found a place where the flooding had hit yet and they were still getting across the river, this was 2 days before we were to leave, that night the levies broke and the closed the bridge. All I could do was stress because I didn't think we would make it out there. We were able to make it though and it was the best day ever! Nauvoo was so beautiful the flowers were open and smelled so nice and the weather couldn't have been better, the humidity was low and there wasn't a cloud in the sky, and to make it even more special Devon and I were the only ones to me married in the Nauvoo temple that day. The other wedding canceled because of the flooding. We honey mooned in Nauvoo and then back to Laramie for the rest of the summer.

Now we are working and living in Pocatello, ID. and we love it here. Devon is working for Lithia motors as one of their diesel and transmission mechanics and I am working for Idaho Central Credit Union. And we were blessed to get pregnant with our first baby, a sweet little girl who will be here January 3, 2010. We couldn't be any more excited for her to arrive!
